The Kilnsey Crag electricity undergrounding scheme is part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Visual Impact Scheme for areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Northern Powergrid appointed RSK Consents Solutions to secure the landowner agreements for the undergrounding of about 3 km of overhead electricity line. We were involved in the initial route design, which included liaising with the contractors and the Environment Agency regarding directional drilling under the River Wharfe and the negotiations for a new substation lease for a ground-mounted substation to replace the existing overhead infrastructure. Additionally, we undertook the environmental searches, including facilitating archaeological monitoring in an area with earthworks.
We will also be acting as the main liaisons between the contractors and the grantors for arranging access, temporary compounds and generator positions throughout construction work and in dealing with any compensation claims that may arise.
